Maths and Educational goodies for all ages

Hi friends,

The 2024 academic year is upon us.  We have already started off the year on
a strong note with classes running smoothly and some new classes already in
the mix. Well done to Bafana Bafana for reaching the Semi Finals of the
Afcon cup and to Tyla for winning a grammy! We had our first online
interview with 102 year old Toy inventor, Eddy Goldfarb.  See info below.
We are busy planning to bring out some more international guests (an
astronaut will certainly be one of them) and we will keep you posted on
dates and events. We are also going to be growing our staff and the number
of schools so keep your eyes peeled for some exciting announcements. Our
latest cycle of online classes will be starting up this week - see below for
more information.  If you are a fan of maths and want to become a junior
Journalist then there is a great opportunity for you below.  If you are
fascinated with Mars and looking to win some money then check out the Mars
Challenge below.

ONLINE CLASSES

Our first Cycle of Online classes will be starting up for students from K-9:
Please note that the classes for this cycle will take place only on
Wednesdays.  We will commence Cycle 5 Wed 7 Feb and it will come to an end

they are loads of fun!

Junior Maths journalists

A student that I taught in the USA for our online classes sent me a special
request:

James (who is 12) has started a math newsletter (
http://www.realdealmath.org/ www.realdealmath.org) and he is looking for
kids to write for the newsletter. The aim of the newsletter is to produce a
publication that is written by kids, for kids.  If you happened to know of
anyone you could share the newsletter with (and especially any kids who
might be writers for the next issue), we would be most appreciative.  So if
you are a fan of maths, love the idea of writing articles for an
international project and would love to be noticed for one of your many
skills then send us an email and we will forward it on to James. Email us by

Online INTERVIEWS - We have some awesome interviews we are lining up.
Schools from around the world will be invited to join in live and students
get to ask questions too!

recently I had the incredible pleasure and privilege of interviewing Eddy
Goldfarb. At 102 years old, he got onto the Zoom call and he is a master
story teller! Would you believe that he has invented over 800 toys! He has
over 300 patents! One of the first toys he invented was the wind up
chattering teeth! Join me as I chat with Eddy about his inventions, his
ideas, his life, the lessons he learned and meet someone with such a
positive outlook on life!
